Seanna & Brian’s Wedding at Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle, PA

So this post is a little late.  Okay, it’s a lot late.  :)  Seanna & Brian were married back in April at Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle, PA.  It was my first time at Green Grove Gardens, and I have to say, they did a wonderful job.  The location is beautiful, and the service is excellent!  They are still working on their site, but you can find their contact info here:

www.greengrovegardens.com

Seanna met me via Facebook.  A friend of hers became a fan, and told her she had to meet me.  I love friends like that.  :)  Seanna and Brian are a very sweet couple, and I was honored to photography their day.  Below isn’t my typical documentation of the day photos.  We had a chance to go out during the reception, and got some very cool shots in a field, so I added more of those.  :)

Congrats Seanna & Brian!  Thank you for entrusting me with photographing your wedding day!

New Studio Coming to Waynesboro, PA

Well, it’s official, and I can finally make our announcement!  We are building a brand new studio!  Since we started in 2005 I have run my business from my home.  While this was great for the beginning, we have out grown our space.  As most photographers do, we will still be located at our home, except this building, while attached, will be totally separate.  It will be designed to be a photography studio with an office, showing area, changing room, bathroom, and of course, the studio itself.

We decided to build instead of rent for a number of reasons.  1.  The overhead for rental space is not cheap.  Since we won’t have the higher costs of a downtown store front, we can price ourselves very competitively.  2.  Family.  I’ve been given this amazing opportunity to work where I live, to be here for my kids and watch them grow up while they are young.  Most dads don’t have this luxury, and I wasn’t about to give that up.  :)

We have several visions for the studio.  Including a more controlled environment for ad and commercial work, plus, studio rental opportunities for other area photographers, and marketing/ad firms.  We will also have some of the best photographic equipment to give our clients the best quality possible.

Having this space opens up huge opportunities for us to grow in business and in photography.  It also helps position us to become one of the areas most sought after visual artists.  We are still working out the exact specs, but I have a meeting with the contractor tomorrow to hopefully sort everything out, and we hope to have it open by late summer/early fall.

We are more than excited about this, and words cannot express how much we appreciate all of the support we have received from our family, friends, and especially our clients.  You, our clients make us.  I am ‘self-employed’.  This is totally wrong.  I am employed by everyone who has ever used our services or purchased our art.  I’m supposed to be my own boss, but in reality, I have well over 200 bosses and counting, and all of you are awesome.  Thank you for not only helping me achieve my dreams, but for helping me to support and provide for my family by doing what I love.  I hesitate to say ‘what I’m passionate about’, because, while I do love photography, it is not my ‘passion’.  God, my family, and my kids, are my passion; everything I do, I do for them.  I’m just fortunate enough to have a gift that allows me to see and then create beauty through photography, and I’m even more fortunate to have amazing clients who share my love for art and beauty.  Thank you.

An Alexandria, Va Engagement Session

Well, it’s been way to long since my last post!  I’ve been so focused on getting my Facebook page built up, I’ve neglected my poor blog.  :(  Well, no more.  Facebook’s photo processing is not very friendly to image quality, so I’ll be posting some of the photos here as well.  So, in an attempt to catch up, here is one of the first sessions I’ve posted in the past month or so.  Stephanie and Tom!  These guys are getting married in November at The Links in Gettysburg, PA.  We met in Old Town Alexandria, VA for their session.  Enjoy!

Thanks guys!  It was great hanging out with you in your beautiful city!  :)

Michelle + Kenny A Laurel, MD Wedding

Well, my brother-in-law, Kenny got married this past Saturday to a great girl named Michelle in Laurel, MD.  I have to say, it was a little weird.  I’ve known Kenny since he was this twelve year old kid, who chaperoned my wife and I during the first 8 months we dated.  :)  Since then, I am proud and honored that Kenny has become one of my brothers, and nothing less.  He has grown to be one of the kindest men I know.  We have gone through some rough times together.  From his best friend and cousin unexpectedly passing away, to his dad suffering a major aneurysm, and then two years later, a major heart attack.  These past 12 years have been torn between tragedy and  miracles.  All of these situations have made Ken the man he is today, and the great husband and father I know he will be.

As I photographed Ken dancing with his mom, I couldn’t help but think back 5 years ago to those days we were all in the hospital after his dad’s aneurysm.  Kenny was such a great son to his mom, and really helped get her through one of the scariest times of her life.  He was her rock, and for the long months of recovery he was there for his parents, even taking a semester or two off from school to help them.  Now, four years and 11 months later, his dad sang at his wedding, and he was dancing with his mom.

I have never seen Kenny happier than he was on Saturday.  That might sound cliche, but it’s true, he was beaming.  Kenny is a hopeless romantic; to the point I used to tease him by calling him a woman.  :)  He has a huge heart, and I know he is going to worship the ground Michelle walks on for the rest of their lives.  She could not of found a better guy, and I know Ken has found a wonderful woman.

So, to Kenny and Michelle.  I know you are still on your honeymoon, but if you happen to read this, take this little bit of wisdom that I was given on my wedding day.  This time, especially this week, is going to be over before you know it.  Soak in this time.  Just stop what you are doing, look around, and breathe it in.  These next few days, weeks, and months as you are newly married are going to be some of the greatest of your lives, you will never be as free as you are right now ever again.  Take it all in, and remember every moment.  These moments can and will get you through the rough spots ahead.  Take advantage of your freedom and be spontaneous.  Before you know it, another kind of joy will enter your lives full of poop and giggles, and though there is greater joy there is less freedom.  So, just enjoy each other, live in the moment, and never rush through this time.

Okay, now for some of Kenny and Michelle’s wedding photos!

My beautiful daughter.  :)

My very cute little boy.  :)

This is Ken’s dad, and my father-in-law.  He is evidence miracles can and do happen.

Congrats again, Michelle and Kenny!  For more photos check out our Facebook page, and while your there, become a fan!  :)

Megan + Vince A Chambersburg, PA and Premier Events Wedding

Megan and Vince were married this past Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg, PA, and had their reception at Premier Events in Shippensburg, PA.  As you’ll see in the photos, it was a beautiful, fun wedding!  Oh, and the food at Premier Events was awesome!  :)

Megan and Vince’s faith is very important and personal to them, so, the night before their wedding, they had an intimate communion/worship service to set the atmosphere of their wedding and marriage apart.

For lots more photos check out my facebook page at:  facebook.com/alifestudio.fb!  Congrats, Megan & Vince!
