2010 Bliss Bridal Gala at Hager Hall in Hagerstown MD

This Sunday, January 17th, we will be at the 2010 Bliss Bridal Gala at Hager Hall in Hagerstown, MD starting at 11:30 am.  This is going to be a great show with over 50 vendors, seminars, and tons of prizes and give-a-ways!  Plus, there will be a guest appearance by a rep from Kleinfeld Manhattan.  All of you ‘Say Yes to The Dress’ fans are familiar with them.  :)

Aesthetic Life Studio will be at booth #10, and we will be giving out very cool packets with info about us, tips on finding the right photographer, tips on how to save money when hiring a photographer, and two very cool vouchers from us!  :)  If you’ve been thinking about hiring us for your wedding, you need to visit us at tomorrow’s show.  We will also be having our own drawing for a free engagement session!  Pass this along to everyone you know who is getting married.  At the bottom of this post is a link to share on Facebook, MySpace, etc, so share away!  :)

I hope to see you tomorrow!  :D

Kate and Kennedy’s Harrisburg, PA Wedding

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to make a real post, but get ready for what I hope to be daily posts over the next several weeks!  I have tons of weddings, engagement sessions, senior sessions, etc to blog.  Kate and Kennedy’s wedding will be my first.  As I have announced on my Facebook page, I am totally remaking my web site, and Kate and Kennedy just happen to be the current wedding I’m working on for the new site.  :)

Speaking of the new site.  This thing is going to rock!  There is nothing like it in the area (that I know of), and it will be way more than just an online gallery of my work.  The launch goal is mid January, so needless to say, it’s a high priority right now.  :)  Keep checking back, or better yet, fan us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for the most up-to-date news.

Kate and Kennedy were married on November 7th at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Harrisburg, PA and had their reception at the Sheraton Four Point Hotel in Harrisburg, PA.  It was a beautiful Catholic ceremony and a very fun reception.  Kate planned the day out perfectly, leaving us plenty of time to go to Riverfront Park and the Sunken Garden in Harrisburg, so they got tons of photos of the two of them together.

Keep a look out for the new site coming in a few weeks, it’s going to have loads more of Kate and Kennedy’s wedding images!  Congratulations, Kate and Kennedy!  It was an awesome day!

Hagerstown, MD Wedding at Duffy’s on Potomac

Keren and Ben where married on June 13th at Bridge of Life in Hagerstown, MD, and had their reception at the Ballroom at Duffy’s on Potomac.  I’ve known Keren since she was around 13, so photographing her wedding was a real blessing for me.

My assistant Karen took this photo.  Did she do an awesome job or what?!

Congrats Keren and Ben, and thanks for having me shoot your wedding photos!  :)

A Wedding at Stonewall Golf Club

Robin and Matt where married in May at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainsville, VA.  Their wedding was beautiful, even though it rained.  Rained? No. It was an all out thunderstorm.  Luckily there was a tent covering over the patio for their outdoor ceremony.  :)  It all worked out, though, and was a great wedding.  Robin found out about me by her sister who found out about me on The Knot back in early 2008.  Her sister had read about me through a thread that was going on at the time posted by one of my 2007 clients.  That goes into a whole other story, though, and this post is about Robin and Matt.  :)  Like many of my clients, Robin and Matt met several years ago on a dating site.  From what I understand, it was pretty close to love at first site for both of them.

The above photo is one of my favorites from the wedding, and I didn’t even take it.  (I hate when that happens.)  :)  It was taken by my assistant Jessica.  I love this photo.

The bride and groom had to move under the awning to stay out of the rain.  That’s why they are in the middle of everyone.  I just love the expressions on everyone’s faces in this photo.  There is just so much joy.

If you can’t tell, Matt was having a great time, and so was everyone else!  :)

Robin and Matt I wish you all the best and look forward to working with you over the next several months as we get your album together!

Oh, and if anyone wants to look up Stonewall Golf Club, they can be found here:

On another note, we just missed our goal of 150 page fans on facebook by just a few people!  Since we are so close, we are going to extend the offer to give away a $25 gift card to a very popular coffee house until Monday.  If we have 150+ fans by the end of Monday, one of our fans will receive the gift card.  So look us up, become a fan, and suggest your friends!

A Wedding at The Inn at Leola Village in PA

Wow, it’s been awhile since my last real post.  I’ve been crazy busy with weddings, engagement sessions, portraits, etc.  I have so much to post, and I hope to start making new posts daily.  To start off, I’m going to post my latest wedding from this past Saturday.  This post is for the wedding of Valerie and Luke.  The were married at The Inn at Leola Village, which is just outside of Lancaster, PA.  This place is beautiful, the food is amazing, and the staff there is outstanding.  They were so helpful and friendly.  Check them out at:

theinnatleolavillage.com

Valerie and Luke are two of the nicest people ever, and you can tell they just adore each other.  Below are just a few photos from before and during their beautiful, yet, simple ceremony.  Enjoy!

This is one of the most uniquely beautiful rings I have ever seen.  Way to go Luke!

Valerie looked amazing!  Just stunning.  Her jewelery, hair, flowers, dress.  This girl has great taste.  I loved her vale.  It was fairly short and had kind of a 1960’s retro feel to it.  Very cool, and very pretty.

This the room where the guys hung out before the ceremony.  This is a guys room, and was so cool.

The ambient lighting in the room was very dramatic, and almost had a cinematic feel to it.  Just awesome.

That’s all we have for today’s post.  After we get these processed and in our client gallery I’ll take a few more and post them to my Facebook page.  If you haven’t already, look me up, or go to our Facebook link and become a Fan of Aesthetic Life Studio to see more photos!

Congrats, Luke and Valerie, and enjoy Jamaica!

HM Bride’s Publisher Booked Me for Her Wedding!

It’s official!  The publisher of HM Bride Magazine and owner of Ridgerunner Publishing has booked Aesthetic Life Studio to shoot her wedding!  Kate, and her groom-to-be, Scott, are just a great couple, and are really helping to make a difference in Hagerstown.  Through their businesses, they are providing high quality publications and web design that brings pride and awareness to the great resources we have in the area.  Kate is the publisher of HM Bride, the areas best wedding magazine.  She runs and owns Ridgerunner Publishing, which also publishes Hagerstown Magazine, Smart Company, and several others.  Check them out at:

hagerstownmagazine.com

Scott is one of the partners at 2nd Floor, an awesome web design company with offices in Hagerstown and Chambersburg.  Some of their clients include Adidas, City of Hagerstown, Caterpillar, and Timberland.  You can find their site at:

2ndfloormedia.com

Kate and Scott are great, and I’m very excited to be shooting their wedding.  We had their engagement session about a week ago at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA.  They brought their babies, Loki, Jake, and Star.  Three very well behaved, very sweet dogs.  Here are the pics:

This is probably my favorite photo from the session.  The dogs looking straight ahead, the texture of the bridge, the symmetry, and how the lines of the bridge lead your eyes right to Kate and Scott, just make this a good shot.

I actually met with Kate yesterday at her venue, Stone Manor Country Club, located in Middletown, MD.  The manor and grounds are gorgeous!  I can’t wait to shoot there.  Here are some shots I got today as Kate was showing me around:  (I know there are way more than I showed of the e-session, but it’s a huge mansion with lots of rooms and details.  I could have shot all day, so this is just a taste.)

All of the inside photos required no flash, that is all ambient light, a photographers dream.  The owner of the manor was worried I was going to bring in lights, tripods, wires, etc. But, for one, I travel light anyway, but even more, who would want to add to the natural light already coming in?  Now, if it was an evening wedding, sure, you would need it, but this is an afternoon wedding, around the same time I took these shots, so, no, there is no way I would add light, it would take away from the natural beauty.  If anyone is looking for a venue, check them out.  These photos are barely a glimpse of how beautiful it is.

On another related note.  I’m already freelancing for Ridgerunner, and I’ve been published in a couple magazines already (blog post to come), but I’m really looking forward to doing some work for the yearly bridal issue.  The very little I do know about it is going to be awesome, just right up my alley, so I’m very excited about some up coming shoots.  It won’t be available until the end of this year or beginning of next, so keep a look out!

This wedding is going to be a blast, and I’m honored that Kate and Scott choose me to shoot their wedding. Thank you Kate and Scott!

Gallery Wrap Canvas Print Example

I love canvas prints.  Once I saw canvas for the first time I wanted everything printed in this medium, but if I did that, I would go broke.  :)  Canvas prints are heirloom investments.  An investment in family art to be enjoyed for generations.

This year, one of my 2008 wedding clients (which have since become friends) helped me out at my bridal shows.  They took several Sundays to help out, and were willing to participate in a project I’m still working on.  They did all of this and asked for nothing in return, but I offered to give them a 16×24 gallery wrap canvas print of their choice.  They narrowed their choice down to a handful of images, and came to my office to view them and make their final decision.  After looking over several images, they decided to go with one of her bridal photos.  I then took the photo and personalized it a little further for them by including a bible verse they choose, which I think gave the image an entirely new, and deeper meaning.

This is the digital version of the photo.  Below are photos of the canvas.

Thank you, Jeremy and Kia, for being such a huge help!  I hope you enjoy your canvas for generations to come.

Gettysburg Hotel Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will be at the Gettysburg Hotel for the Gettysburg Times / WGET 2009 Bridal Faire.  I will be at the show to hawk my wedding photography wears and services.  :)  I’m not sure where I will be other than the Ballroom, which, like everything else is Gettysburg is supposedly haunted by ghosts.  I know that’s neither here nor there, but I go on random tangents easily, so I thought I would share that interesting info.  The hotel, specifically that ballroom, has actually been on national TV a few times about being haunted.  You know the type of show I’m talking about, one of those Travel Channel highlight shows.  I’m easily entertained by mindless television, so that type of programing appeals to me.  You can always find something good on the Travel Channel, unless they are showing poker.  Can I ask who actually watches that?  I can’t think of anything more boring than watching someone else play poker.  But I digress.  This post is supposed to be about me being at the Gettysburg Bridal Faire.  The show starts at 1 pm and goes until 4 pm.  I know there are going to be lots of other great vendors there as well.  Admission at the door is $8.00.  For more info on the show visit www.wget.com and click on the 2009 Bridal Faire link on the corner.  Come on out and see us, we would love to meet you!

On another note about Gettysburg, I was just there today for the coldest, most dangerous and treacherous e-session ever!  :)  No, it wasn’t really that bad.  Jadylee and Alex met me at the Peace Light.  They choose that location, because that is where Alex proposed.  I haven’t even emptied the flash card yet, but I’m sure there are some rock’n shots.  Even in the ice and bitter cold these guys were awesome.  I hope to have some images up soon.  Thanks Jadylee and Alex!

Katie & Mike’s Wedding

Katie and Mike were married just last month at Faith Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, PA.  Their reception was at the Susquehanna Club, also located in Harrisburg.  It was a beautiful wedding and a fun reception!  Here are some pics:

The above photo was taken by my very talented assistant Karen.

Karen captured this very sweet moment above as well.

The above shot is one of my favorite shots from the day.  Katie made this very cute sign to hold up so she could use it for her thank you cards.  I thought it was a great idea.  I’m loving the sweet sun flare in this shot, though.

This DJ was nuts, and quite possibly one of the best I’ve seen.  He really knew how to get the crowd on the dance floor.  His name is DJ Wild Bill.  I have his card, but there is no website listed.

I had so many more that I wanted to post, but I would have been all night!  Thanks, Mike and Katie, you guys were just great to work with.
