HM Bride’s Publisher Booked Me for Her Wedding!

It’s official!  The publisher of HM Bride Magazine and owner of Ridgerunner Publishing has booked Aesthetic Life Studio to shoot her wedding!  Kate, and her groom-to-be, Scott, are just a great couple, and are really helping to make a difference in Hagerstown.  Through their businesses, they are providing high quality publications and web design that brings pride and awareness to the great resources we have in the area.  Kate is the publisher of HM Bride, the areas best wedding magazine.  She runs and owns Ridgerunner Publishing, which also publishes Hagerstown Magazine, Smart Company, and several others.  Check them out at:

Scott is one of the partners at 2nd Floor, an awesome web design company with offices in Hagerstown and Chambersburg.  Some of their clients include Adidas, City of Hagerstown, Caterpillar, and Timberland.  You can find their site at:

Kate and Scott are great, and I’m very excited to be shooting their wedding.  We had their engagement session about a week ago at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA.  They brought their babies, Loki, Jake, and Star.  Three very well behaved, very sweet dogs.  Here are the pics:

This is probably my favorite photo from the session.  The dogs looking straight ahead, the texture of the bridge, the symmetry, and how the lines of the bridge lead your eyes right to Kate and Scott, just make this a good shot.

I actually met with Kate yesterday at her venue, Stone Manor Country Club, located in Middletown, MD.  The manor and grounds are gorgeous!  I can’t wait to shoot there.  Here are some shots I got today as Kate was showing me around:  (I know there are way more than I showed of the e-session, but it’s a huge mansion with lots of rooms and details.  I could have shot all day, so this is just a taste.)

All of the inside photos required no flash, that is all ambient light, a photographers dream.  The owner of the manor was worried I was going to bring in lights, tripods, wires, etc. But, for one, I travel light anyway, but even more, who would want to add to the natural light already coming in?  Now, if it was an evening wedding, sure, you would need it, but this is an afternoon wedding, around the same time I took these shots, so, no, there is no way I would add light, it would take away from the natural beauty.  If anyone is looking for a venue, check them out.  These photos are barely a glimpse of how beautiful it is.

On another related note.  I’m already freelancing for Ridgerunner, and I’ve been published in a couple magazines already (blog post to come), but I’m really looking forward to doing some work for the yearly bridal issue.  The very little I do know about it is going to be awesome, just right up my alley, so I’m very excited about some up coming shoots.  It won’t be available until the end of this year or beginning of next, so keep a look out!

This wedding is going to be a blast, and I’m honored that Kate and Scott choose me to shoot their wedding. Thank you Kate and Scott!

Valerie & Luke’s Gettysburg, PA Engagement Session

A few weeks ago I had an engagement session with Valerie and Luke in Gettysburg.  They are getting married on June 27 at The Inn at Leola Village, which is located near Lancaster, PA.  The inn is beautiful and I can’t wait to shoot there.  Check out their website at: theinnatleolavillage.com.

My wife loves your jeans, Valerie!  Where did you get them?

Thanks, Valerie and Luke for a great shoot!  I’m looking forward to your wedding!  :)

Jessica and Dustin’s Waynesboro, PA Engagement Session

I have been super busy lately and have lots to blog about, so hopefully I’ll be making a post a day for a while.  :)  So, lets get started with Jessica and Dustin’s e-session.  They are getting married on May 9th, in Hedgesville, WV.  We met at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA, which is my favorite place to take engagement photos.  Check them out below!

We had a great time, and I’m really looking forward to their wedding!  We created a custom package for them, and an engagement session wasn’t included.  But, they saw my guest book and just had to have one, so they bought a session and guest book separately.  They haven’t seen their book yet, but I know they are going to be happy they added it on, it’s turning out to look great.  Thanks, Jessica and Dustin!

Cashtown, PA Engagement Session

On Tuesday I had an engagement session with Melissa and Kevin.  They are getting married on May 2nd at ‘The Round Barn’ in Cashtown, PA.  Melissa and Kevin actually won an engagement session at a bridal show I attended.  Unfortunately, they already have a photographer for their wedding.  I know they are going to get some great photos; the Round Barn is awesome.  Kevin’s family owns and operates the barn, hence the farm and apple theme of the photos below.  Their website can be found here:

Melissa & Kevin I wish you all the best!

Engagement Photography Winner from Hagerstown Show!

On Sunday I was in Hagerstown at Duffy’s on Potomac for the Hagerstown Magazine Bridal Gala.  It was a fantastic show with a great turn out.  At the show I had a drawing for a one hour engagement session including an 8×10.  Toni B.  was the winner of that drawing!  Congrat’s Toni!

That was my last bridal show for February, and probably for the rest of the year.  Thanks to all who came out to see me!  I’m looking forward to hearing from you and working with you over the next year; even well into 2010!

Jadylee & Alex’s Gettysburg Engagment Session

Here are some images from the coldest engagement session ever, but these guys did a great job.  I met Jadylee and Alex last Saturday at the Peace Light in Gettysburg, PA, which holds special meaning for them, because that is where Alex proposed.  They are getting married on July 25th at the church Alex’s father pastors in York Springs, PA, and then they are having there reception at the Carroll Valley Resort, which is located in Fairfield, PA, at Ski Liberty, which I think is called Liberty Mountain now.

Gettysburg is on of my favorite places to shoot.  There are just so many great places to shoot in town and on the battlefield.  So here are just a handful of photos from the day.  (By-the-way, the stuff that looks like snow, is not snow, it was solid ice.  You couldn’t step through it unless you stomped, and even that barely worked.)  :)

These two are one of the sweetest couples I’ve met.  I’m really looking forward to their wedding in July, when it will be much, much, warmer.  :)  Thank, guys for a great session!

Gettysburg, PA Engagment Session

This is the engagement session of Chris and Suzanne.  They are getting married on May 30th of this year in Gettysburg, PA and will have their reception at the Gettysburg Hotel.  (Which is the same hotel I will be at this Sunday from 1 pm - 4 pm for the Gettysburg Times / WGET Bridal Faire.) (*cough* plug for show *cough*) :)  The e-session was shot on Jan 10th.  Yes, it was cold.  Yes, it was snowing, actually sleeting.  And yes Chris & Suzanne did a fantastic job, and we had a great time.  For some reason I kept calling Suzanne, Christine.  I didn’t do this just once, but multiple times making me look like a real tool.  I blame it on the cold and becoming hypothermic (is that a word?).  But, Suzanne was graceful and gave me a pass each time as I instantly apologized.  So below are some photos of their Gettysburg engagement session.

The photo above had a road going through it and a metal pole.  I took those out.

Thanks for a great session, Chris and Suzanne.  I’m looking forward to your wedding!  It should be warmer that day.  :)

Molie & Caleb’s e-session

Mollie and Caleb are getting married next June in Chambersburg, PA, and will have their reception at Wilson College; it’s going to be beautiful!  She’s a high school teacher and he is a full-time student living in NC.  Needless to say they have a long distance relationship.  We met at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA a few weeks ago to shoot their engagement session.  Did I mention the shoot was at 8 am!  :)  Here are a few snaps:

You guys were so fun to work with; I’m looking forward to June!
