Carlisle, PA Engagement Session

I met Amy & Steve (aka Weave) in Carlisle, PA for their engagement session.  They are also getting married there on 12/26 of this year.  That’s right, the day after Christmas!  Like a lot of my clients, Amy found me through the Knot, which is one of my favorite wedding sites.  Amy and Weave were so fun during their e-session, we really hit it off, and I left knowing we were a great fit.

By-the-way, you should make sure your photographer is a good fit for you.  He/she will be with you all day, and a lot of that time, right next to you.  Plus, photographers are the only vendors you will be talking to and dealing with for weeks if not months well after your wedding.  So make sure you like them, and most importantly trust them!  (hmm, This gives me an article idea, I’ll try to post that soon.)

Anyway, here are some of Amy and Weave’s photos:

I thought this photo would be even funnier if Weave was Thia.  :)  (Sorry, I have an odd sense of humor.)  :)

Amy and Weave, I had a great time hanging out with you guys, and I am so looking forward to your Christmas wedding!

A Stone Manor Country Club Wedding

Kate and Scott were married back in May at Stone Manor Country Club in Middletown, MD.  Stone Manor is beautiful, just a perfect setting for a wedding.  I highly recommend it.  Below is a link to their site:

Kate and Scott are just a great couple.  You may remember them from their engagement session post I made a few months back.  Their wedding was gorgeous and super fun.  For me the day started at 9:00 am at Sagittarius Salon in Hagertown, MD.  I don’t always get the chance to be at the salon with the bride and her girls, it was a blast to shoot.  From there I went to Stone Manor to shoot some of the details before guests arrived, and to meet up with the groom for some of his getting ready shots.  The day flew by and before I knew it I was shooting the ceremony, formals, and then the reception.  By the end of the day I didn’t leave until 9:00 pm.  It may have been long hours, but, for me, it wasn’t a long day.  I was just having too much fun shooting a great wedding.  Below are just some of the great shots I was able to catch.  As with the past couple of posts, I have way more photos posted on facebook.  If you would like to see more, and your not a friend or a fan already, just look me up.  :)

Congrats again, Kate and Scott!  Thank you for having me shoot your wedding.  I was honored and blessed to be a part of it.

Pen-Mar Area Engagement Session

What do you get when you cross a couch and an engagement session?  Answer:  Some of the coolest photos ever!  Ok, so, if you’re a fan of ours on facebook, you may have already seen some of these, and if you’re not a fan, become one and you can see more from this set.  facebook.com/alifestudio.fb

Maggie and Dave booked me a few months ago for their June 2010 wedding.  When someone books a wedding with me, I gift them an engagement session.  Well, these two won an e-session with another photographer in the DC area at a bridal show, where they are from.  So, Maggie contacted me and basically said, “We already had some nice, for the family, engagement photos done.  We would really like to do something different.”  After a few different ideas,  I settled on what you will see below.  We took this couch everywhere!  Thankfully, one of my brothers was able to help me lug that thing around.  It must have been quite a site so see us carrying that thing through a park, the woods, train tracks, and a field!

This was such a fun session.  The sore arms and legs from carrying that couch everywhere was totally worth it.  You’ll be seeing this couch again very soon.  I have something lined up for the end of next month that should be very cool.

Maggie and Dave you are the best, and I can’t wait for your wedding next June, it’s going to be awesome!

Oh, I almost forgot.  Maggie and her mom run Bette’s Bags.  These bags are all hand made and are awesome.  I made the mistake of showing the site to my wife, who loves purses, and, of course, she had to have one.  :)  She got her bag in no time, and she loves it!  She also got a Purse Pocket Roll-Up Organizer as an accessory, which she also loves.  Check them out here, I know you’re going to love them too:

Engagement Session at The Hagerstown Suns

A few months ago, I met with Joel and Toni for their engagement session.  Joel works for the Hagerstown Suns, and he and Toni wanted their engagement session at the stadium!  For those of you that don’t know, the Hagerstown Suns is the local minor league baseball team.  They are a class A affiliate of the Nationals.  I can’t tell you how cool this session was.  It was one of those sessions that reminds me of how many experiences my career has given me that I otherwise would not have had, and that, to me, is the best part.  Here are just a few photos.

To get this photo, I had to go up these spiral steps of doom.  These stairs hang off the back top of the bleachers.  Not only were they fairly high up, but they shake like crazy.  Anyway, it was a good time.  :)

I might be posting one more photo a little later, so check back!

Toni and Joel, I had a great time, and I’m looking forward to your wedding in November!

Waynesboro, PA Trash the Dress!

If your friends with me on Facebook (and you should be), you may have seen these already.  I’m finally caught up to the point where I can start blogging again, and I really wanted to share these with the rest of the world.  Jessica contacted me a few months ago after her wedding, asking if I would shoot her Trash the Dress session.  Her and her groom Adam were married back in April in Hagerstown, MD.  When she told me she wanted to go to Caledonia State Park, I was more than a little excited.  The lake there is beautiful.

So, a few weeks ago, I met her and Adam at the park, and they took us (my assistant Karen was helping me), to the spot where Adam proposed last summer.  This spot is magical (can I say that without sounding lame?) absolutely perfect for a TTD session, and I’m sure I’ll never be able to find it again.  Ha!  We started off taking photos in the woods, and I jokingly mentioned the water.  Well, they were all for it!  So, we rolled up our pants legs, took off our shoes and stepped in.  The edge of the lake was mossy, muddy, and down right gross.  Needless to say that was an interesting sensation on the feet.  Luckily, after just a few steps in the water, the floor became rocky.

There was a small fishing boat near by as we were shooting, and I’m sure we were quite a site.  Me with my camera, my assistant angling lights, Adam with his jeans and suit coat, and Jessica with her wedding dress all in knee high in a lake for a photo session.  I have to say, though, that was the most fun I’ve had in a while!  I want to do more of these, MUCH more.  Even if I’m booked for your wedding, or you’ve already booked another photog, you can at least book me for this.  Trust me, you will have a blast, and you will have one of a kind, once in a lifetime photos.  Contact me for more info at info@alifestudio.com!

Okay, time for photos!

This has to be my absolute favorite.  I’m going to be ordering this as a 16×24 canvas very soon.

So when we were done we ended up having to walk through the woods on our bare feet because we didn’t have any towels to dry off.  Luckily, it was mostly a pine forest, so the ground was soft.  When we got back to our cars we noticed this sign.  Oops.  :)

Don’t forget to look up my Facebook page!  I’ve been making weekly updates there, plus every once in a while I give away something cool to my fans.  :)  A couple of weeks ago it was a $25 gift card to Starbucks!  Check us out here and become a fan!

At next month I’m going to the beach and should have some awesome photos to share when I get back, so stay tuned!  Also, I’ve got loads more weddings and engagement sessions to post.

Thanks for an awesome session, Adam and Jessica!  I’ll be contacting you soon to setup a meeting to go over your photos.  I’m looking forward to meeting with you again.

Now This is a Processional!

Check out this video!  It’s far from your typical processional.  I feel sorry for the photographer, though.  It had to be very difficult to shoot this, so I hope they had someone who knew what they were doing.  :)

A Wedding at Stonewall Golf Club

Robin and Matt where married in May at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainsville, VA.  Their wedding was beautiful, even though it rained.  Rained? No. It was an all out thunderstorm.  Luckily there was a tent covering over the patio for their outdoor ceremony.  :)  It all worked out, though, and was a great wedding.  Robin found out about me by her sister who found out about me on The Knot back in early 2008.  Her sister had read about me through a thread that was going on at the time posted by one of my 2007 clients.  That goes into a whole other story, though, and this post is about Robin and Matt.  :)  Like many of my clients, Robin and Matt met several years ago on a dating site.  From what I understand, it was pretty close to love at first site for both of them.

The above photo is one of my favorites from the wedding, and I didn’t even take it.  (I hate when that happens.)  :)  It was taken by my assistant Jessica.  I love this photo.

The bride and groom had to move under the awning to stay out of the rain.  That’s why they are in the middle of everyone.  I just love the expressions on everyone’s faces in this photo.  There is just so much joy.

If you can’t tell, Matt was having a great time, and so was everyone else!  :)

Robin and Matt I wish you all the best and look forward to working with you over the next several months as we get your album together!

Oh, and if anyone wants to look up Stonewall Golf Club, they can be found here:

On another note, we just missed our goal of 150 page fans on facebook by just a few people!  Since we are so close, we are going to extend the offer to give away a $25 gift card to a very popular coffee house until Monday.  If we have 150+ fans by the end of Monday, one of our fans will receive the gift card.  So look us up, become a fan, and suggest your friends!

Facebook Page We Want 150 Fans by Tonight!

So, if you’re not friends with me on Facebook (and you should be) :) you don’t know that I’m trying to get 150 total Fans to join our Aesthetic Life Studio facebook page.  If we can make it to 150+ fans then I am giving away a $25 gift card to a very popular coffee house to one of our fans!  Currently we have 121 fans.  As of Monday afternoon we had 98, that’s 23 new fans in a little over 36 hours, which is freak’n sweet!  Thank you, to everyone who added us!

I am addicted to Facebook.  I love it, and think it’s one of the most useful things on the web, if not the most useful thing.  Lately, I’ve been posting more photos to Facebook, then my own blog.  So, to see more, check us out on Facebook and become a fan!

facebook.com/alifestudio.fb

Yes, we were able to get a username, but someone already has alifestudio (ugh), so I got alifestudio.fb.  The .fb on the end stands for Facebook, but I’m sure you figured that out.  Check us out, become a fan, and tell everyone you know!
